استقبل فخامة إليخاندرو غياماتي، رئيس جمهورية غواتيملا، وفد دائرة العلاقات الحكومية في الشارقة، برئاسة الشيخ فاهم القاسمي، رئيس الدائرة، بحضور معالي جانيو روساليس، وزير الاقتصاد، حيث تم بحث آفاق تطوير التعاون في المجال الاقتصادي مع غواتيمالا، كما زار الوفد جمهورية كوستاريكا، وناقش مع كبار المسؤولين فيها سبل تعزيز التعاون المشترك في القطاعات الاقتصادية والتنموية.

توسيع مجالات التعاون المشترك مع غواتيمالا

واطلع وفد الدائرة خلال الزيارة على الخطط التنموية التي تنتهجها غواتيمالا، إضافةً إلى مناقشة جهود الجانبين في تعزيز الاستراتيجيات الاقتصادية الجاذبة للاستثمارات، كما زار الشيخ فاهم القاسمي قصر الثقافة الوطني في غواتيمالا، حيث أشاد بجهود التبادل الثقافي بين دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة وجمهورية غواتيمالا، مؤكداً عمق العلاقات التي تربط إمارة الشارقة مع مدن غواتيمالا، وما تمثله من ركائز لتبادل الخبرات وتوسيع مجالات التعاون الثقافي والاقتصادي والتجاري والاستثماري، مشيراً إلى أن هذه العلاقات عمادها التعاون المتواصل والاحترام المتبادل والمصلحة المشتركة.

زيارة كوستاريكا

وعقد وفد دائرة العلاقات الحكومية، برئاسة الشيخ فاهم القاسمي، اجتماعاً مع كبار المسؤولين في جمهورية كوستاريكا، حيث التقى القائمين على وكالة ترويج الاستثمار في كوستاريكا (Cinde) ومروّج التجارة الخارجية الكوستاريكي (Procomer)، وبحث الجانبان فرص التعاون وتبادل التجارب والخبرات في قطاعات التجارة والتعليم والسياحة، وناقشا آليات تنفيذ مشاريع اقتصادية مشتركة، وسبل تعزيز البيئة الاستثمارية عن طريق الاستفادة من الابتكار والتكنولوجيات المتطورة في مشروعات التنمية.

وأشاد رئيس دائرة العلاقات الحكومية في الشارقة بخطة جمهورية كوستاريكا الهادفة إلى حماية المحيطات وخطة إزالة الكربون، وأبدى اهتمامه بمشروعات الحماية التي تنتهجها في تعزيز الاقتصاد الأزرق، الذي ينظر إلى البحار والمحيطات بوصفها عنصراً رئيساً في التنميّة الاقتصاديّة العالميّة، مؤكداً أن تجربة جمهورية كوستاريكا هي واحدة من التجارب الملهمة للدول التي تتعرض لضغوط بيئيّة.

 

بدورهم، شدد المسؤولون في جمهورية كوستاريكا خلال اللقاء على ضرورة الاستفادة من فرص العمل مع إمارة الشارقة، وأنّ هناك تطلعات مشتركة نحو تعزيز التعاون الثنائي في عدد من القطاعات التنموية والاقتصادية لدى الجانبين، وخاصة في مجالات حماية البيئة والتغير المناخي والتعافي الأخضر، وتعزيز فرص الجذب السياحي بين الجانبين.

 

Guatemalan President hosts Fahim Al Qasimi to discuss

emerging investment prospects with Sharjah

The Chairman of Sharjah’s Department of Government Relations concludes a detailed tour of Latin
America, working on future strategies of cooperation with senior public officials

HE Alejandro Giamatti, President of the Republic of Guatemala, received a delegation from the
Department of Government Relations (DGR) in Sharjah, led by their Chairman, Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi,
in the presence of HE Janio Rosales, Guatemala’s Minister of Economy to discuss emerging prospects
for boosting economic cooperation.
The delegation also visited the Republic of Costa Rica, during which Sheikh Fahim held key meetings
with senior officials to explore ways to boost collaboration, particularly in sectors of economy anddevelopment.
Advancing partnerships with Guatemala visit
In Guatemala, the DGR delegation gained insights on an economic development plan, and also explored
ways to boost efforts for bolstering economic strategies that attract investments. Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi
visited the National Palace of Culture and lauded the cultural exchange between the UAE and
Guatemala. The close relations between Sharjah and Guatemalan cities, he said, served as a foundation
for sharing expertise and expanding the scope of cultural, economic and investment collaboration. He
pointed out that continued cooperation, mutual respect and common interest are the pillars of such
relations.

Visit to Costa Rica
During the visit to Costa Rica, Sheikh Fahim met with key officials from the Costa Rican Investment
Promotion Agency (CINDE) and the Costa Rican Foreign Trade Promoter (PROCOMER). The two parties
explored opportunities for collaboration and knowledge transfer in sectors of trade, education and

tourism. They discussed mechanisms for implementing joint economic projects and ways to bolster the
investment environment for both parties by harnessing innovation and technology.
Sheikh Fahim lauded Costa Rica’s plan to protect its oceans and become a carbon-neutral (C-neutral)
country. He showed particular interest in projects that promote the blue economy, which considers seas
and oceans as key to global economic development. The DGR Chairman stressed that Costa Rica has
one of the most successful experiences in this field which inspire countries facing environmental
challenges.

For their part, the Costa Rican officials emphasised the importance of exploring collaboration
opportunities with the UAE and particularly with Sharjah, noting that the two parties aspire to enhance
bilateral cooperation in several development and economic sectors, particularly environment protection,
climate change, and regreening apart from the enhancement of tourist attractions.
