\nKawalis – Syrian President Bashar al-Assad discussed today with the members of the delegation of the Arab National Conference a number of issues centered on Arabism, national thought, belonging, identity, and the role of Arab parties towards the Arab street in light of the increasing challenges and the Western intellectual invasion and supporting Syria in the face of sanctions and the unjust siege.<\/p>\n

Al-Assad stressed during the meeting that “we cannot talk about political affiliation without talking about the concept of belonging as an identity.”<\/p>\n

Considering that “national action must be based on the intellectual and practical levels, because the state of Arab nationalism and belonging is popular and not all attempts to attack it over the past years succeeded, and what we lack today is to pick up the tools and ideas that form an important base for national action and make optimal use of them.”<\/p>\n

Al-Assad also stressed “the importance of expanding the concept of resistance, especially resisting the ideology that invades us forcibly, with the aim of dismantling the intellectual structure of the Arab peoples.”<\/p>\n

For their part, members of the delegation stressed “the need to work in the next stage in order to activate the role of popular parties and organizations to benefit from the positive atmosphere on the Arab scene to support the popular contribution to the process of rebuilding Syria and breaking all forms of siege on it.”<\/p>\n
